This morning I had time to relax so I grabbed my copy of this month’s edition of the National Geographic Magazine, the front cover and main article pictures belong to Wes Skiles, a regular photographer of the magazine, this time he was showing us the wonders of the blue holes of the Bahamas, here is a link to the article.
Just after reading it I went to the internet to search for more information on the caves, and unfortunately discovered he has died last 21st of July while diving in Boynton Beach, Florida, apparently he was found dead just some minutes after he told the other divers he was ascending as he run out of film. At the moment the reasons for his death are unknown.
He was greatly experienced in cave diving and a great photographer, so we all have lost a dive buddy, explorer and a great man.
Just want to express my most sincere condolences to his family and the entire diving & photographic community, as Wes Skiles was the type of man some of us dream to be one day.
