“Grey Wrasse Nest Building”

One thing I noticed while diving past months is that the fish seemed to be specially excited, this is because they are all busy either breeding,building nests or spawning.This is a picture of a Grey Wrasse Male “Symphodus Cinereus” building up his nest.  These are small fishes that live in shallow waters usually arround Posidonia gardens or sand bottoms.

I took several pictures of this behaviour as I wanted to record the whole sequence properly,  will show you more pictures of this subject in another post.To take it, I was completely laying on the floor in order to get the right angle and background,and had to remain completely steady and breathing very slowly to make this fish comfortable enough to continue his task.

Buceando estos  últimos meses he notado que los peces parecían estar especialmente excitados, esto es porque están todos ocupados ya sea apareándose, construyendo nidos o incubando sus huevos.Esta foto es de un macho de bodión “Symphodus Cinereus” en plena construcción de su nido.Son peces pequeños que viven en aguas poco profundas por lo general cerca  de jardines de posidonia o fondos de arena.

Tomé varias fotos de este comportamiento,ya que quería fotografiar toda la secuencia de construcción,en un próximo post publicaré más fotos de este animal, para hacerla estaba completamente tumbado en el suelo para poder sacar el ángulo correcto y fondo que quería,tuve que estar quieto completamente y respirando muy lentamente para que el pez se sintiera lo suficientemente cómodo como para continuar su tarea.
