Yesterday´s dive and images are special to me and to this blog,by now you may have noticed that until today all my images were either macro or portraits of fishes and there was no landscapes or wider scenes; well that will change from this post on, as I have got now a Wide angle (Fish eye) lens Tokina 10-17 mm , that will allow me to share with you not only the inhabitants of the mediterranean but also some landscapes or reef scenes.

I had lots of fun yesterday but I still have to change my mind to think in Wide Angle and learn how to use the lens to maximise the results. In any case I hope you will like this first attempt.

As I knew I would need some nice backgrounds to practice, I spoke with a couple of friends and we decided to go to the Moraig Cave, as it has a mix of cave diving, rock, sand floors and normally crystal clear waters.

You enter the dive site in a small hole inside a cave that leads to the open sea,behind this hole and inside the mountain you have a another cave on which you can ascend and take out your regulator and breathe as it is full of air leaving the wall on your right hand side you swim arround 300 metres playing around the rocks until you enter a second cave that is the mouth of a submerged river.This second entrance is quite nice as you can see/feel the halocline caused by the mixing of salt and river water. Until this point you have the normal dive, if you like extreme experiences or you are Tec Diver you can enter the submerged river which is around 1,6 km long (discovered) and with no exit above you.

Below I leave you a test video I took while finishing the dive and coming back to the first cave, (it was the first time I used the video features of my DSLR underwater, so there a loooooooot of room for improvement). La inmersión y las fotos de ayer son especiales para mí y para este blog, ya te habrás dado cuenta que hasta hoy todas mis imágenes eran macro o retratos de peces y no había paisajes o escenas amplias,a partir de este post eso va a cambiar, ya que acabo de recibir mi cúpula para gran angular (ojo de pez) Tokina 10-17 mm, con este objetivo voy a poder fotografiar no sólo los habitantes del Mediterráneo, si no también paisajes o escenas más amplias.

Ayer me diverti mucho en la inmersión, pero todavía tengo que cambiar mi “ojo fotográfico” ( si es que tengo) y pensar en gran angular para poder aprovechar al máximo el objetivo. De todas formas, espero que os guste este primer intento.

Como sabía que iba a necesitar fondos interesantes para practicar, hablé con un par de amigos y decidimos ir a la Cueva del Moraig, ya que tiene una mezcla de buceo en cueva, fondos de rocas y arena y normalmente aguas cristalinas.

Se accede saltando en un pequeño agujero que hay dentro de la cueva, de ahí sales a mar abierto buceando por debajo de la cueva, detrás de este agujero dentro de la montaña,hay una segunda cueva en la que se puedes ascender y sacarte el regulador y respirar, ya que está llena de aire, saliendo de estas cuevas y dejando la pared a tu derecha, después de nadar unos 300 metros jugando alrededor de las rocas hay una segunda cueva que es la desembocadura de un río subterráneo.La entrada a esta segunda cueva es muy agradable ya que puedes ver / sentir la haloclina causada por la mezcla de agua salada del mar y agua dulce del río. Hasta este punto tenemos la inmersión normal, si buscas experiencias extremas o te gusta el buceo técnico, puedes entrar en el río subterráneo que tiene (descubierto) aproximadamente 1,6 km de largo, y sin salida sobre tí.

Además de la foto de hoy, arriba os dejo un video de prueba que hice al acabar la inmersión cuando volvíamos a la primera cueva, (es la primera vez que usé el video de mi réflex digital bajo el agua, así que hay muuuuuucho margen de mejora).Debajo os dejo también algunas imágenes extra mostrando la salida de las cuevas principales y unas fotos de mí que ha echo uno de mis compañeros de buceo Vicente.
